Sited in a beautiful but exposed Scottish valley with breathtaking sea views out towards the isle of Jura, A-barn was built as a workshop, garage and studio space. It was assembled in a little over a week by the client and a group of volunteers, working with a local builder.
Janet and Martin wanted to build a permanent home on the site of their nursery business in Warwickshire, UK. Architecture 00 worked with them to design the home around their needs, which they then built for themselves, helped by friends, neighbours, with local builders contracted to install foundations and electrics.
A collaboration between Architecture 00 and Arup Engineers, the WikiHouse 4.0 prototype was assembled in 8 days outside the Building Centre in Store Street London. A few weeks later it was disassembled in 2 days and taken into storage, awaiting its second use.
Propose a pilot project
Do you want to use WikiHouse to build your project?
The first WikiHouse technology is now in Beta, but there is not yet an established supply chain to provide it.
Over the next two years, we will be developing new web tools and growing a wider network of architects, manufacturers, builders, insurers and suppliers ready to help you realise your project. In the meantime, there are a number of pilots happening around the world, from tiny studios to homes to whole neighbourhoods. If you would like your project to be one of these pilots, please take 5 minutes to tell us about it.
We will try to connect you with the support you need to make it happen.
Message received, thank you. One of the team will get in contact with you as soon as possible.
We’ll get back in touch with you as soon as we can, and see if we can connect you with providers in our network to make your project a reality. Please be aware many pilots may not be possible at this stage.
